We hear people talk about self love all the time, but what does it actually mean?

According to the oxford dictionary it simply means "regard for one's own well-being and happiness"

Here are some self love tips to get you through each day.

  1. Listen to what you are saying to yourself: It is so important to be self aware and listen to what you are saying to yourself. Speak positively and kindly to yourself. Yes we have days when we don't feel great, but you have to stop yourself from spiralling down into negative self talk and turning it into positive affirmations such as " I look beautiful today" " I am grateful to be alive" " I am funny, kind and smart". This will definitely make a difference to make you feel good about yourself.
  2. Believe that you are worthy and enough: Nobody is better than you, don't compare yourself to someone else as you are unique and special and are worthy and enough just as you are. When you believe and act on this, then you are certainly showing yourself the love that you deserve and need to live a happier and more fulfilled life.
  3. Nourish your mind, body and soul. These three things make you who you are, so it is important that you look after and nourish your being. With your mind, get into the habit of thinking positively, reading positive affirmations, reading books, articles, blogs anything that can stimulate your mind in a positive way. For your body, physical exercise, stretches and movement are so important and needed by everyone regardless of your size. It keeps you strong, supple and gives lots of endorphins to make you feel so much better. When you nourish your mind and body, your soul is automatically nourished and you feel you are walking in your purpose, living a fulfilled life and in turn you can positively impact the life of others as we all need people who can inspire us to greatness.
  4. Seek ways to grow and be fulfilled: There are so many things we can do to grow, if it means learning a new skill, doing more of what you like, attending events(virtual during the pandemic), making new friendships/ acquaintances, travelling(when the pandemic is over)  and just doing things outside of your comfort zone because sometimes you need to get uncomfortable to get more comfortable.
